International Advanced School on Magnonics

September 3-7, 2012

Magnonics - the study of spin waves - has recently seen a burst of activity, fuelled by a remarkable scope for creation of magnetic field controlled metamaterials and devices, with properties tailored on the nanoscale and with a promise of data processing based upon propagating spin waves (magnons) as information carriers.

The School will feature an overview of and introduction into the state of the art in the field, delivered by the world leading experts in magnonics both from and beyond the FP7 MAGNONICS project, as well as individually tutored opportunities to learn and discuss the state of the art knowledge and techniques developed within the project. This training and dissemination event is aimed at early stage researchers already working in magnonics, at experienced researchers that would like to develop associated research activities, and also at industrialists looking for new materials and device paradigms for tomorrow's technologies.
